Coping with a Low Carb Diet When Dining Out
By: Efood Place
It's usually hard to look around these days without seeing one study or the other which has been carried out that shows the importance of removing carbs from your diet. New diet plans are on their way in and out as they have been for years. Some of these diets claim that they will magically help you to lose all your gained weight without you having to give up anything that you love so much. Eating boring low carb diets may seem like a big headache, bt in the end it is ultimately necessary.
Eating healthy doesn't necessarily mean that you have to stay at home. A number of restaurants usually have low fat options and many more are adding low carb menus. Before you do go out, you should make sure you make the necessary calls and find a restaurant which offers you a menu that matches with your diet plans. As soon as you get to the restaurant, there are ways to enjoy your meal without falling into temptation and subsequent guilt.
In order to succeed you must start off at your initial order. The worst thing you don't want to happen is to have a plate replete with all the wrong choices and only regretting it when you're done with your meal.
A number of experts have suggested that once you have been served you should ask for a take-out container and put away at least half for your next day’s lunch or dinner. This usually works well if you are a very self-controlled person. However, if deep within you know that the food you have in your takeout container is excessive, and then you should change your ordering habits.
Side dishes, children’s plates, and appetizers are all great alternatives. Request that extras like gravy, butter, sauces, salad dressings, and sour cream be served on the side. Slightly dipping a fork in a condiment before you stick it into your food is a great way to limit the extra calories while adding flavor to your food.
You shouldn't fear to substitute. Substitute a salad for fries, a green vegetable for potatoes, or low fat versions for their fat laden counterparts. If the restaurant has no substitutions available, you should then ask that the offending item is left off the plate. The waiter may tell you that you have to pay the full price anyway but that should be acceptable as you're after your health and not the bill.
Sometimes another person at the table will want the item you want left in the kitchen. If this is the case, ask the waiter to serve the item on a separate plate.
Fast food restaurants are a great temptation to anybody who has a weight loss plan. However if you do visit a fast food restaurant you can easily control yourself by avoiding the wrong types of food which you know you shouldn't have. There are a lot of such meals but self-restraint should take the better part and impede you from making the wrong choices.
